So, a few weeks ago we decided to buy a tent and do the camping thing. We went up to Ft. Stevenson for the night. It was interesting to say the least. Both boys behaved pretty well. Our Envoy was in the shop, so we were forced to bring out Civic. Needless to say we were only able to bring the essentials, and with two little boys, that leaves little wiggle room. We only brought 2 blankets for Nate and I to share, and well, it was FREEZING. We weren't able to get a site with water and electrical hookups, so we had to really "rough it" with a port-a-potty. We also had to walk to an open site with electricity to blow up our air bed (I was NOT going to sleep on the ground :) We built a fire, roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, and fell asleep to the sound of thunder and rain. It was a good experience. Nothing to exciting happened, but hopefully it will be something the boys will remember doing as they age, just as I look back at my camping experiences with my family with fond memories.
Thanks Mom and Dad for all the fun times you took us camping as kids. I can't imagine it was always fun for you and I imagine it was always a little bit stressful. I just want you to know that I do appreciate the time you spent with us building memories.
